The flotation of SafariCom, which is set to be one of the biggest listed companies in East Africa is back on track with an offering open to Kenyans between March 28th and April 23rd at 5/- Kenya Shillings per share. This is a planned sale of 25% of the Government stake in the company. Of this amount 35% has been set aside for International Investors (International Tranche). Foreign investors will likely pay more per share since the International Tranche will be priced through an auction process known as book-building whose lower limit will be 5/- Kenya Shillings. In addition to this, if the Local tranche is oversubscribed by 200% then what is available to the International Investors will be reduced to about 20%. Please note that SafariCom shares will begin trading on the Nairobi Stock Exchange on June 9th, 2008 and will be available then for purchase in the open market
Concern: As Kenyans in the Diaspora where do we fit in? Question is, are we part of the International Tranche or can we be treated within the Local Tranche. This is dicey based on who you talk to; So the only solution that has been sourced is to open a CDSC brokerage account at home using your Kenyan Passport and picture with a local firm. This is something which the online site(s) cannot be relied to do given the level of internet technology in Kenya. Solution: To facilitate this process, PIMA CAPITAL PARTNERS an Agency of AFRICAN ALLIANCE (www.africanalliance.co.ke), an international brokerage firm in Kenya has prepared for your convenience a package consisting of the following documents that are under Finance-Foreign Direct Investment: a) PIMA Capital FAQ: Formal Questions and Answers b) CDSC Form: Complete this for the opening of the CDSC account c) CDSC Sample Form: Guide on how to complete the CDSC application d) CDSC Account Application Requirements: Copy of Passport and Picture. e) PIMA Capital Bank Details: On wire transfer instructions You will become a PIMA CAPITAL PARTNERS client where they will open a brokerage CDSC account for you and give guidance on the SafariCom IPO as well as investing in Kenyan public companies through the Nairobi Stock Exchange. The Chairman & CEO of PIMA CAPITAL PARTNERS is Dr Reuben O. Marwanga, someone from the Diaspora who still has family here in the USA, in the state of Maryland. Dr. Marwanga has worked both in the US and Kenya and has a solid and clean reputation both in the US and Kenya.
